A final point about Progressive Web Apps is that they are not available on all websites or services. At least not yet. As mentioned above, Google just launched PWA in 2019. Of course, the goal is to get everyone involved and build applications so that websites and services can run on any platform. In fact, it is about creating a “code once, publish anywhere” platform. But not everyone agrees. At least not yet.
It’s also important to note that not all companies building PWAs (such as Pandora) can use Chrome. The music streaming service does allow the use of Pandora as a PWA in the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser. This requires users to navigate to Pandora, tap or tap on the three-dot contextual menu, scroll down to the app, and select the Install option.
