Find My Device App Updated Icon – Back in June, we shared the new Find My Device logo, and the updated icon is now rolling out with version 3.0 of the Android app.
After previously using the green map pin that the phone featured, the new logo shows radar, scanning and pinpointing. This generalization FMD will soon support Bluetooth trackers. It’s also now available in four Google colors, with two shades of blue and green in use, given the overlap. The logo is placed on a white background, Google is gradually getting rid of full-bleed icons. (Others include: clock, calculator, recorder, and translation.)

The updated icon first appeared in the Google Settings redesign with the beta release of Play Services and is now available for the Android app.
How To Update Android Apps
This update moves to Find My Device version 3.0 (from 2.5), the new icon also replaces the green shield on the login page. The theme icon has also been updated.
Google has yet to update the “Device Available” (status bar) icon, which is powered by Google Play Services.
Version 3.0.046-4 of Find My Device is rolling out via Google Play. The update isn’t widely available yet, so head over to APKMirror if you want it right away. (We needed to delete the existing app before installing it.)
Looking ahead, we’re looking forward to the launch of the Find My Device network, whose summer launch was delayed so Apple could add protections to iOS.

The Find My Device app on Android rarely gets updates, but it now has a new icon that better follows Google’s modern design language.
The icon remains a phone-labeled pin displayed on a green background. However, the white pin is now smaller and no longer has a shadow in the lower right quadrant. It’s very similar to Google’s other flat icons. This tweak makes the intent of the icon a bit more clear.
Elsewhere, “Google Play Protect” on the sign-in screen is just “Google Play” — with an awkward lack of centralization. Within the app, Google uses outline-style device icons for the Play sound, Protect device, and Delete device actions.
The rest of the Android app is unchanged from its original Material Design look. It could use modernization eventually, but the primary way people find my device at this point is probably through the universal Google search method.

Version 2.4.065 (vs. 2.4.052) is rolling out now. If you’re installing via sideloading, we ran into a weird bug where the update wouldn’t install (on Android 13) without first deleting the old app. This probably won’t be an issue when it’s widely available through the Play Store.

Allows you to find what you need.
Like Find My Friends, Find My app lets friends share their real-time location with you and vice versa. If your friend allows it, the app allows you to receive notifications when they leave or arrive at a location.
In older Find My apps, you could swipe the screen to manually update a person or device’s location information. In the new Find My app and with better signal, the location beacons on the People and Devices tabs on the map are designed to refresh periodically and automatically every minute or so.
How To Manually Update Apps On Your Apple Device
If your connection is spotty or you don’t want to wait for the next periodic refresh, you can update manually. Just tap the name of the person or device to open their card and zone in on their location. That should be all you have to do. Under their address, the last viewed time should quickly change to NOW.
If opening the location card fails to refresh the last viewed time, this may be due to a weak signal in the area of the transmitter or receiver – try moving to an area with a strong cellular signal, then try again. You can exit the app by swiping up and then re-open it to get the connection to refresh on all your devices.

Complaints about heat issues with iPhone 15 Pro models are not related to TSMC’s 3-nanometer node that was used for the A17 Pro chip, according to respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo says the overheating may be due to “compromises in thermal system design” that allowed Apple to reduce the weight of the iPhone 15 Pro models. According to Kuo, the heat decreased…

To signify this major update, Google has also revamped its Find My Device app logo.
For years, the Android app’s icon has featured a white pin with a phone on a green background in the center, signifying the service’s map-based functionality. In 2022, Google gave the icon a subtle tweak, removing shadows to align with the aesthetics of other contemporary logos.
Security Update Icon Is Red
Despite the app making significant improvements with the introduction of Material U in February, the green logo remained unchanged, a move that struck observers as odd.
However, a new Find My Device logo has been unveiled. Google continues the map/location theme but now uses a crosshair design featuring the company’s four colors. This new icon suggests simultaneous radar and scanning functionalities. Although less literal than its predecessor, the new logo accurately reflects the expanded scope of the Find My Device service, which now covers tablets, watches, headphones and phones.
One potential downside of the logo redesign is that its use of blue, red, yellow, and green could make it blend in with many other icons on users’ phones. The previous green color, which is somewhat of a security and Android symbol, can help distinguish the app more effectively, especially if it’s an app that users may need to find quickly in a moment of crisis. Recently, Google has shown a tendency towards preserving unique app colors, as seen in Play Books. However, apps like Google Authenticator and Arts & Culture have adopted a four-color design.
The new icon will debut when the expanded My Devices network rolls out later this summer. Google’s updated service will enable users to locate tracker tags, headphones (to be launched later) and mobile devices. The app provides guidance when a tracked object is nearby, with the ability to play a sound to help locate the object.
